Septic Pump-out Grant Program

Thanks to funding from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, eligible property owners may have their septic system pumped at no cost to them!

  • Type of assistance
     This program provides funding for septic tank pumping and waste removal. Repairs and other services are not included.
  • Eligibility
     
    Property owners in James City County must meet the following requirements:
    • Their septic system must not have been pumped in the last 5 years.
    • Their household size and annual income are within the limits described below:

    To begin the process, first download and complete the application.
    • Submit the application and all necessary income verification documents* via any of the following methods:
      • Upload all documents using the upload portal
      • Email all documents to: Marion.Paine@jamescitycountyva.gov
      • Submit printed copies of all documents by mail or in person to:

    • *Please black out ALL social security numbers on accompanying documents.
    • Funds are available for a limited time and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • The income limits shown are subject to change by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
    • Annual income verification is required by James City County.
