We look forward to welcoming you back to James City County Parks & Recreation and all that we have to offer! Summer camps and classes are scheduled to resume, starting June 29. However, these are uncertain times with changing circumstances, and we depend on you, our patrons, to follow reopening and social distancing guidance as regularly released by the Governor of Virginia.
All County Parks are open; however, many park amenities remain closed. We are awaiting guidance regarding the opening of our recreation centers and outdoor pools.
As we continue to adjust our operational procedures to ensure compliance with the recommendations from the Governor, the Virginia Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control in Washington, we ask for your patience, flexibility and support with all new registration and operating procedures that will be enacted. Help us to help you have a safe, fun and healthy summer!
Should any course be canceled due to COVID-19 related guidance from the Governor of Virginia, a full refund will be made, with no actions necessary on your part. The County has waived the 2.95% convenience fee on all credit and debit card transactions through Aug. 5, 2020.
Customer and staff safety will always be our number one priority. Until a vaccine is developed and we completely recover from this health pandemic, we expect that participation in all programs and visitation to indoor facilities will be down. As we continue on a path to full recovery and the complete opening of all programs and facilities, I encourage you to continue to maintain healthy and active lifestyle. Visit our parks, trails and new pickleball courts at Veterans Park (Kidsburg), sign up for art classes, summer camps or just spend time outdoors – alone or with a few friends.
This online edition of Parks & Recreation summer camps and classes details our offerings through Sept. 30. To enhance and streamline the visitor registration process, we’ll be switching to a new software system in September. For a smooth transition, please register for all camps and classes by Sept. 6. During the transition period, all registration outlets will be down from Sept. 12-22. Look for more information and patrons training options beginning Aug. 1.
There are four ways to register for programs – online, phone-in, walk-in and by mail. Check out the complete details under the “Registration” button.
